Gender Studies of the Institute of Literary Research, Polish Academy of Sciences (IBL PAN) invitates to the first edition of the Warsaw Summer School in Gender, to be held under the theme Backlash in the US and East
and Central Europe.
The program is dedicated to students with Bachelor's degrees,
postgraduate students, MA and PhD students.

Časopis Gender, rovné příležitosti, výzkum připravuje tematické číslo navazující na 2. konferenci českých a slovenských feministických studií: Feministická studia na hranici. Účastnice a účastníky konference vyzývá k posílání abstraktů svých příspěvků. V časopise je rovněž prostor pro recenze a zprávy, vítány jsou především recenze a zprávy relevantní k uvedenému tématu.

Journal of Political Analysis and Theory welcomes contributions from both young and experienced scholars active in the fields of Political Science, International Relations, European studies and Europeanization, Nationalism and Ethnic relations, as well as from adjacent fields such as Sociology or History with a focus on contemporary politically and socially relevant phenomena. The editors encourage contributions in the form of comparative studies or single-case studies that catch and analyze specific political phenomena, contexts, and developments.
All submissions sent after the deadline will be taken into consideration for the December 2012 issue (Vol. 6, Issue 2/2012)

The HafenCity University Hamburg - University of the Built Environment and Metropolitan Development invites applications for doctoral programme “Urban Metamorphoses”. Joining the programme, doctoral students will enter a laboratory for developing a sensibility for urban change and for future planning interventions, outlining the metropolitan questions of tomorrow. The basic requirement for applying is a master/diploma degree in the field of Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, Geomatics or adjacent (e.g. urban sociology, history, Economics).

The Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) is calling for applications to its International Doctoral Program starting in October 2012. Admission is based on academic excellence and is open to students with a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences (sociology, political science, and neighbouring disciplines). Expected is high-level knowledge of current theoretical debates in the social sciences and in-depth knowledge of quantitative or qualitative techniques of social research as well as a commitment to empirical research. English proficiency at an academic level is assumed.

Russian Review of Social Research invites submissions of research papers by young authors—students working towards doctoral degrees and those who have received Ph.Ds. no earlier than five years ago—doing research in social sciences: sociology, anthropology, ethnography, social history and related disciplines.  In addition, the winners will receive cash prizes: 1st place – 300 $, 2nd place – 200 $, 3rd place – 100 $.

The 1st GESIS Summer School in Survey Methodology  is designed for doctoral students and junior researchers who wish to conduct their own survey or to improve their understanding of the generation and quality of existing survey data. It will take place at the University of Cologne.

The workshop aims to reopen debate on the area of family policies and gender equality in Central and Eastern Europe, a research field which has seen little exploration to date from the comparative perspective. The workshop will be followed by the publication of the papers.

New Bulgarian University is announcing the 19th Summer School in Cognitive Science which will be held July 2 - July 15, 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The summer school features advanced courses for graduate students and young researchers in a variety of areas, including embodied cognition, brain functions and development, computational cognitive neuroscience, collective behavior, creativity, analogy-making, cognitive modeling and neural networks, individual differences, animal cognition.
